Vessels of Love: A Planet of Water

While walking through the streets of Sri Lanka, I noticed vessels placed all over the roads. Looking inside, I found water in each of them. Stray dogs and cats, birds, and frogs would come by to drink.

​I realized that these were vessels of love left by someone. One person pours water into a vessel, and an animal passing by drinks from it. Water and love flow in a continuous loop—life connecting and love circulating through water. Ah, that's right—Earth is a planet of water.

​Ever since, whenever I found a vessel of love on the street, I would refill it with water and take a photograph. Vessels of love, a planet of water. We live by sharing with one another.

愛の器、水の惑星

スリランカの街を歩いているときに、道のいたるところに器が置かれていることに気がついた。器をのぞくと中には水が入っていて、野良犬や野良猫、鳥やカエルがやってきて器の水を飲んでいく。ああ、これは誰かが置いた愛の器なんだと思った。その器に、誰かが水を注ぎ、偶然そこを通りかかった動物が水を飲む。水と愛がグルグルと循環していく。水を通して生命が繋がって愛が循環していく。そうだった、地球は水の惑星だった。

それからというもの私は、路上の愛の器を見つけると水を注ぎ足して、写真を1枚とるようになった。愛の器、水の惑星。私たちは分かち合って生きていく。
