洗濯はとても人間的な営みだと思っています。
服が汚れて、それを洗って、太陽の下に干す、それは生きていく上で必要な愛しい行為です。
だから洗濯物を美術館にしました。
この洗濯物美術館は、実際に私が旅先で使うTシャツや、枕カバーに作品が印刷されています。タオルには、作品解説が印刷されています。生活して、服やタオルを洗って、外に干すと、洗濯物を干した場所がどこでも美術館になります。
原っぱでも軒先でも、太陽の下ならどこでも美術館です。開館時間はお天気次第、観客はたまたまそこを通る人。そんな有機的な美術館があっても素敵だなと思うんです。
Laundry Museum

I think doing the laundry is a deeply human act.
Clothes get dirty, we wash them, and hang them out under the sun—
a necessary, tender ritual of everyday life.
That’s why I turned laundry into an art museum.
In this Laundry Museum, images are printed on T-shirts and pillowcases I actually use while traveling.
The work’s explanations are printed on towels.
By living, washing clothes and towels, and hanging them outside,
wherever the laundry is hung becomes a museum.
A grassy field, a porch—anywhere under the sun can become one.
Opening hours depend on the weather. Visitors are whoever happens to pass by.
I think it’s lovely that such an organic museum could exist.
