May Your Wounds Heal
2025
Embroidery on photograph
May your wounds heal.
With this wish in my heart, I stitched over photographs of injured dogs.
The time spent sewing, stitch by stitch,
felt like a time of healing.
To imagine the wounds of others.
To imagine the wounds of non-human beings.
To imagine my own wounds.
They may seem like different things,
but they are connected.

This artwork is created to help viewers "imagine the wounds of others."
While staying in Southeast Asia, KYUN-CHOME took photographs of injured stray dogs and embroidered directly onto the areas where the wounds were located. Stitching these injuries was a gesture of praying for their healing. In the completed piece, the embroidery highlights the sites of injury, prompting viewers to strongly imagine the wounds underneath.
Imagining another’s pain is the initial step toward healing and care, and an essential kind of imagination for living together. KYUN-CHOME hopes that this imaginative empathy will expand beyond humans to encompass non-human entities. Imagining the pain of life forms distinct from our own and wishing for their healing—they believe this act is connected to healing the world as a whole.
Workshop Embroidering stray dogs together with visitors. Sharing the time of embroidery is sharing a time of healing—a calm and gentle moment. Plus, as the stray dogs grow fluffy, it somehow becomes delightful and fun.
